How many years do we have left before the end? How long ago did this story begin?
Approximately 6,000 years have passed since the creation of the world. Bible scholars from centuries past believed once those 6,000 years had passed, the final rest of 1,000 years would ensue. Are we there yet?

Before God created the first speck of stardust or the first molecule he was thinking about the future. He sees the end and the beginning all at the same time. He is eternal so he has no beginning and will have no end but at some point in eternity passed he began to create the universe we live in. He shaped the earth and placed the land, oceans, whales, and fish in their place.
About the future:
Before he started though, he knew how it would end.
Shortly after the creation of man and the all-too-sudden entrance of sin into the beautiful garden, we see written a verse in which we learn God had a plan in place to save humanity from his propensity to sin.
Genesis 3:15
“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
Here’s the same verse in another translation.
“I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will strike your head, and he will strike your heel.”
In this very important prophetic passage, there are four characters we should identify.
- The first is God. The Almighty, and Father of Jesus.
- Second is Satan who at the time is in the form of a serpent.
- The third is Eve, the first woman who has bitten into some fruit and found it to be rotten to the core.
- Finally coming in at number four is last but not least the seed of the woman. The seed of the woman would fulfill the all-important role of crushing the head of Satan, redeeming the woman for her bad choice of fruit, and restoring fallen mankind to its former position of a friend of God and beloved and most special creation.
Jesus is the seed of the woman. He is the One who would come…who did come…who will return to even the score at the end of 6,000 years of sin.
We are all just small bit actors in a majestic drama played out in eternity. The four main actors are bringing the drama to its predicted completion.
The end is soon. The actors have been brilliant. I can’t wait to see the final act and watch the final curtain call so we can see an end of sin and watch the Serpent sulk off in defeat.
