The Silent Prophet: “You shall be dumb and unable to speak”.
Be Silent, please. Some so-called prophets speak too much as seen here… (nine million views but still wrong!)
Lamentations 3:26
“It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.”
Some prophets aren’t prophets at all. They should sit quietly and listen before opening their mouths and revealing their own foolish thoughts.
Psalm 141:3
“Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.”
Have you heard anyone speaking for God who should have kept their words and thoughts to themselves? I have. Here and here
“Use your words!”
I have heard many parents admonish their young children with that simple sentence. Often children express their frustrations by throwing tantrums. Sometimes they scream or take a swing at the nearest innocent bystander. That’s normal kids’ stuff. Parents come to understand that young children who struggle to communicate a simple message, such as, “I’m hungry” don’t always know how to get the message across.
They can’t say, “Mom, I want some sugar-coated cereal please.” Instead, they hit their sister. Young kids don’t communicate very well. The message gets lost after they take a swing at their sister.
Young children need to learn how to communicate better with their words. At the same time, many self-proclaimed prophets need to hear the opposite message. as we can see (Here)
“Don’t use your words!”
The angel Gabriel once paid an unexpected visit to an old man. The visitor had a message to deliver.
“You’re going to be a dad!”
The surprised senior didn’t expect the messenger or the shocking message. The old man became a new prophet with an amazing message for his wife. He had to figure out how to tell his wife she would be expecting a bouncing baby boy.
How would he deliver, no pun intended, the news?
The biggest problem he faced was that he couldn’t say anything about it. God’s mighty angel silenced the prophet before he had a chance to share his vision and news with anyone.
Today, we could use similarly silent prophets.
Don’t talk and please don’t use your words.
We have too many YouTube prophets claiming they have a message from God. Unfortunately, we often discover their true character too late.
So, once again, Christianity is embarrassed by these false claims. Self-proclaimed or ‘wanna-be prophets continue proclaiming ‘thus says the Lord!”
The Lord never sent them but there were thousands upon thousands of willing followers. Now, these false prophets are explaining why their prophecies failed. Many of their followers are too star-struck and foolish to understand they have been deceived again.
John the Baptist
Many of you are familiar with the story of the old man who received a visit from Gabriel. He was the father of John the Baptist, Zacharias. He was a good man who faithfully served the Lord. God chose to grant him and his wife the honor of parenting a truly great prophet. John the Baptist was a humble servant and prophet of God.
Zacharias, his father, had unusual characteristics. He was humble and didn’t expect God to use him in the way he did. Humility and silence are traits our modern YouTube prophets could benefit from.
Luke 1:5-20
5-6
In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord.
7-8
But they had no child because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years. Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty,
9-10
according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.
11-12
And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.
13-14
But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth,
15-16
for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God,
17-18
and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.” And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.”
19-20
And the angel answered him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.”
I will finish by speaking rudely but truthfully at the same time. We could use more silent prophecies from our YouTube prophets.
The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. Acts 15:12
