Hell, is it real? In the Bible we read of this place

Is there a hell?

If hell isn’t real it should be. I don’t want anyone to go there unless I hear a very good reason for it. Satan and his angelic horde have had their reservations set for centuries. And every day, they encourage others to join them.

If hell is real, we learn every day about new candidates for admittance to the dark place of eternal agony.

The subject is controversial and hard to discuss. And the reasons for that are obvious. Nobody wants to imagine that such a place is real. But what does the Bible say? That’s the question we must face. If we read the Bible correctly, as God intended, we will cover every portion of God’s Word. And if we do, we can’t miss what the Bible teaches about the dreadful place of punishment. We find more verses about everlasting punishment than we do about everlasting peace and joy. If you haven’t noticed that, you’re not reading the whole story.

Start reading the whole story.

I just finished reading two news stories that I will post links to in this article. They represent a tiny fraction of the wicked acts of the human species. The Lord, from his vantage point, sees everything that is done on this beautiful planet that is drenched in evil every day.

God created Adam and Eve in His own image. The first sin was an act of rebellion. Adam and Eve ate fruit from the forbidden tree. It was a piece of fruit that started this downward plunge into darkness. It got worse after that — much worse.

If we are remotely self-aware, we know that we have an inclination toward sinfulness. The Bible gives multiple reasons for that. And adding to that fact, we also learn of dark forces of evil that prompt us toward deeper darkness. And now that we’ve become an advanced species, (or so we think), we now write books and create movies in which we parade our evil deeds.

It’s a natural and understandable human response to recoil at the idea of eternal punishment. But for many deeds of the corrupt human soul, such punishment is necessary.

If you doubt that, read the following articles to see for yourself. These are just two examples of the dark side of fallen humanity.

A Georgia girl, 14, was kept in a dog cage, starved, and beaten before being buried in the yard alongside brother

Chris Watts drove 45 minutes with his dead wife, and 2 daughters, before killing them at an oil field

Forever in Hell is too short of a timespan for some people. And it’s certainly too short for the demons who encouraged these people to do these things.

Matthew 10:28 “body in hell.”

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

2 Peter 2:4 “Sent to hell.”

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment.

Revelation 20:14

Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.

Revelation 1:18

I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Isaiah 14:15

But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.

Yes, it was the worst of all deeds humanity has ever done. but it was the simplest of acts. It seemed such a small thing but it led us to where we are today.
But it was God’s pre-ordained plan. He knew they would fall like any of us would have. The Lord in human flesh would come as save humanity from their fallen state.
We don’t know how bad hell will be or how incredible heaven will be but the Bible promises a reward for the righteous in Christ and the wages of sin for those who refuse the path of escape God provided.

      thanks Wil
