We ask for peace but really love war
Peace will have to wait. First, we will have another war.
Jesus spoke about the coming wars
In Christ’s prophecy of the end of the age, He spoke the phrase which has now become very familiar to us in this modern day. Jesus said.
“And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars:
see that you don’t be troubled.”
War is an all too common part of humanity’s history while peace has so often eluded the race of man. Since the day Cain brought death down upon the skull of his brother Abel, families, tribes, villages, and kingdoms have fought over land, women, glory, and power. It’s part of our ugly history. We love war and hate peace, at least that is how it appears. We will come to a time when man will finally have his fill of war. War will reach a level that will gag the senses of all who are alive. Jesus also tells us, “the love of many will grow cold.” When war becomes the norm throughout the globe I think hearts will become stone cold and unable to care about those dying around them.
North Korea attacks peace with its threat to rain nuclear death upon the United States.
Iran wants no peace for Jews with its continued threats against the Nation of Israel.
China, Russia, and the United States continue to test and challenge one another with games of chicken involving planes, ships, submarines, and more.
The Last War
World War Three will most likely be the end of us all.
The Bible doesn’t say world war three will be Armageddon, but I believe it probably will be judging by the damage done during the first two world wars. I don’t believe we will survive a third.
The United States developed and used two atomic weapons during World War Two. The next world war will see numerous such weapons of immensely more lethality used across the globe. Again, I’m not a prophet, and the bible doesn’t say anything specific about nuclear war but we can make a good guess by what we have seen in the past.
Feeling happy yet? 🙂
Well, there is some good news. Let’s read the text again.
Matthew 24: 6-13
6″And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that you be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
So what’s the good news in that dark passage you might ask?
It ain’t over till it’s over
When the real war-to-end-all-wars finally starts Jesus says something about the timing. He says at the end of verse six, ‘the end is not yet.’
When the wars begin, that is merely the opening scenes when the drawing of battle lines and choosing up sides takes place, but time will continue and the love of many will grow colder still. It would be hard to imagine anything else but cold deathly silence shrouding the souls of every person on earth during those times. Today we can easily wonder how families endure what goes on during the many wars currently taking place across the planet. Syria’s civil war is into its sixth year I believe.
But wait, there’s More Good News
One more good news item I will leave you with as I finish this brief thought on humanity’s final war. The Lord Jesus will be active during those final years of war. He will still be available for His people to call upon and even those who have rejected His love will be welcome to call on Him to spare them during those coming dark times.
I have an idea. If you don’t know Him as your savior you might want to give him a call before the bombs start to fall.

The Church Fathers studied the Bible differently than we do.
Here’s what they found.
