Don’t let them deceive you. Beware a lie the world believes

Jesus warned and Paul reminded us. “Don’t let anyone deceive you.”

Could a blatant lie deceive you?” Are you immune to coming deception that will take hold upon the entire planet? The world is becoming increasingly shrouded by an illusion. The President of the United States has coined a popular phrase. He calls it “fake news.” But that’s just politics, right? He says he is under attack. But his political opponents say he is the liar. But to quote another infamous politician we are reminded of the words of Pontius Pilate.

John 18:38

“What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.

If there is real “fake news” we would know it. Or would we? How vulnerable to deception are?

In the Olivet Discourse, Jesus opened his famous discourse on the end times with a warning. I quote it below.

Matthew 24:4

“Jesus answered: ‘Watch out that no one deceive you.’”

The disciples wondered when the end of the age would come. They asked for details. Jesus indicated that deception would be the principle issue that would sweep across the minds of the human race.

The Apostle Paul picked up on that key note in his letter to the Thessalonians.

He wrote it like this.

2 Thessalonians 2:3

“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.”

Could the coming lie deceive you?

A lie is coming. A lie so strong, the entire world will be swept up in it’s deception. On one hand, it doesn’t seem plausible. How could the entire world be swept up into the same lie. With the help of the internet, we have the ability to “fact check” every lie and deception.

But, what if the internet were to become the source of the lie?

It is becoming increasingly possible that the world-wide internet is the very means by which the world will be forced to accept the lie that will deceive the human race.

Will it deceive you? Are you ready for the lie?

Matthew 24:24

“For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”

We can take comfort in the two words in this verse, ‘if possible.’

But with the onslaught of ‘fake news,’ we must be careful that we don’t deceive ourselves into believing a lie.

Will you know if you are lied to?

So, Is Facebook lying to you?

Or, Can you trust your religion?

You have been warned, and so have I.

The lie is coming, and most people will be swept up in it’s wake.
