End-Time Talk 11: The Jewish interpretation of Gog and Magog

End-Time Talk 11: Who is the “He” in the Gog prophecy?

Joel Richardson, in the end-time talk 11, answers a question that has baffled Bible scholars for nearly two thousand years.

Who is Gog? That is the question.

Unfortunately, the answer is not as simple as the question. Some modern-day prophecy teachers believe it’s President Putin of Russia.

At the time I am writing this post, Putin’s military is stirring war fears. And that always stirs up more “Putin is Gog” articles such as the ones below.

Where do we find Gog mentioned in the Bible?

That’s an even better question. Joel Richardson reveals an answer that has been hidden in plain sight for over 2,000 years. I won’t give you the answer in this text. You’ll have to watch the video to get the answer. 🙂

But really, the answer isn’t hidden. It’s in the Bible. Many times in fact. But not as plainly as one would hope. You see, Gog is a character the Lord has had his eye on for a long time. The Lord’s prophets were pointing at him in many Old Testament passages. You might say, he has many aliases. Different names for the same character. Joel Richardson points to an error in interpretation that most English Bibles have. The unfortunate misidentification in many English Bibles points to another key O.T. passage in which we see this arch-enemy of God.

End-time Talk 11 answers the question: Who is Gog?

Gog and Allies Attack Israel Ezekiel 38: 1-6

1Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

2“Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him,

3and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.

4I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords.

5Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them, all of them with shield and helmet.

6Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the far north and all its troops—many people are with you.

Here’s Joel’s view on Gog’s identity. Interestingly, the original interpretations from Jewish scholars shed a bright light on this subject.

Below is a quote from an article I wrote back in 2019. It is my opinion that the identity of “Gog” isn’t as hard to determine as many scholars have suggested. It requires some digging into the numerous prophecies. But that kind of digging is often rewarded. So, similar to Joel Richardson’s interpretation in End-Time Talk-11, I came to a conclusion that better aligns with the words of the prophets. And not surprisingly, it has nothing to do with Vlad Putin.

We need to get our eyes off Putin and refocus on the Word of God. 🙂

Ezekiel 38:17

“Thus saith the Lord GOD. Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?”

In this verse, Ezekiel writes as though the Lord is speaking in the first person. The Lord has a person in mind whom he identifies as “he”. And this “he” has been on the Lord’s mind for a long time. It is my opinion, as I already indicated, that this person is the Antichrist who will be indwelt by Satan. Ever since Satan’s rebellion began, the final outcome has been known. The Lord’s prophets began telling the story thousands of years ago. The Old Testament is full of passages pointing toward the final battles of the long war. God says, “Art thou he?”

All the prophets and prophecies…

All of the prophets and prophecies were pointing to this end described by Ezekiel. This battle, led by Gog, will be the last battle before the Kingdom of Christ is set up. It is the infamous battle of Armageddon. Jerusalem will be the final battlefield and also the place where Jesus will set up his future throne. In the following verses, we see a small sample size of the numerous passages that foretell the end times scenario that Gog will lead. Compare the following: Isaiah 10:6, Isaiah 17:4,  Micah 5:11, Zephaniah 3:8Isaiah 25:5, 10, Jeremiah 30:23Deuteronomy 32, Isaiah 24-27, Isaiah 34Numbers 24:17-24, Isaiah 14:28-32, Isaiah 18, Joel 3, and last but not least Daniel 2:44, 45.

If you follow those links, you’ll notice that none of those verses mention the enemies attacking the Church. It’s the commentators that do that. The prophets all mention Israel as the one under attack.

Naturally, the Lord knew the end before the beginning. He revealed the truth to his prophets. As Satan led the start of the rebellion by indwelling a serpent, he will lead the final battle by indwelling a human leader of a vast army.
