The last generation and Jesus' Olivet discourse

The day after Abomination: Olivet Discourse: Matt. 24:16-20

Run! The day after the Abomination of Desolation

On the day after the Abomination of Desolation, I hope you don’t have any plans. Jesus already planned the day for you. There’s only one important thing to remember.

Run faster on the day after

Jesus gave this message to his disciples on the night before his betrayal. He was going to the cross, and this was one of his last and very important messages. In my last post, I covered the subject of the Abomination of desolation. I give another reminder below about the importance of this critical sign. It is one of the biggies in all of the prophetic warning signs.

Forget about earthquakes, volcanoes, wars, or mysterious planets beyond our solar system. And certainly, don’t waste too much of everyone’s valuable time on figuring out when the Pope is going to force us all to take the mark of the beast.

Some of those things are a little important but most of that stuff is silly fluff compared to the Abomination.

And for the many, many preterists out there. Your very good idea died when Israel became a nation. I won’t argue that point again in this post, but the Abomination of Desolation had nothing to do with the attacking Roman armies around the time of A.D. 70.

Run — don’t stop to pick up the mail or check your Facebook page. Run! Grab your family, leave the photos, and run.

One of the most important signs

The abomination of desolation is one of the most critical signs Jesus mentioned in the entire sermon found in Matthew 24.

Jesus gave a stern warning to flee to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the surrounding areas. Don’t stop to see what happens — run! Matthew 24.

It is the key sign that starts the final things. The prophet Daniel called it the sign of the consummation of all things in Daniel 9:27.

Daniel wrote many astounding prophecies, one of those foreshadowed The final Antichrist in his forerunner, Antiochus Epiphanies in Daniel 11:31.

We can count the days to the end when we see this precise marker that was revealed to the prophet. Daniel 12:11.

The Abomination is the event that reveals the man of sin in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4.

It is closely connected to the image of the beast the lie that deceives the world and deceptive signs from heaven. Revelation 13:14-15.

A temple and the return of the daily sacrifices must precede the abomination.

Did the early Church Fathers have it right about the Antichrist?

This book takes the writing of one of the best Church Fathers, breaks it into a simple format and supplements the early teaching with important key scriptures not listed in the original manuscript.

Matthew 24: 16  On the day after, run to the hills.

“Let those in Judea flee to the hills.”

Matthew 24:15
So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination of desolation,’ described by the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand),

Do you understand this? You better. If you live in Israel or anywhere near there, the place is going to explode with danger — literally.

Matthew 24:17  Get off the roof and don’t bother packing.

“A person on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack.”

2 Samuel 11:2
One evening David got up from his bed and strolled around on the roof of the palace. And from the roof, he saw a woman bathing—a very beautiful woman.

King David wasted his older years staring at women from his rooftop. There won’t be time for that the day after the Abomination.

Matthew 24:18  On the day after, don’t even stop to grab your coat.

“A person out in the field must not return home even to get a coat.”

Luke 17:31
On that day, let no one on the housetop come down to retrieve his possessions. Likewise, let no one in the field return for anything he has left behind.

When that day arrives, consider all your possessions lost. Save your family and your life. Don’t stop to remember the good old days, they will be gone, never to return.

Matthew 24:19  It will be the worst of days to move your family.

“How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days.”

Matthew 21:16
“Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked. “Yes,” Jesus answered, “have you never read: ‘From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise’ ?”

Children are a blessing from God. I have three beautiful ones myself. But on that day everything will be more difficult. Moving young children is often difficult, but on that day grieving mothers and fathers will need to fight harder to get their families to safety. But fight they must.

Matthew 24:20  Pray for a good day to run.

“And pray that your flight will not be in winter or on the Sabbath.”

Exodus 16:29

They must realize that the Sabbath is the LORD’s gift to you. That is why he gives you a two-day supply on the sixth day, so there will be enough for two days. On the Sabbath day, you must each stay at your place. Do not go out to pick up food on the seventh day.”

Jesus never told us when that day will be. He did say only his Father knew the exact day. Let’s wait and see so we don’t play the game of false prophets. Jesus didn’t even know if it would be on a Sabbath.

The day after the Abomination Run!

The ClayWriter

The early Church Fathers held a different view of the end times than many of the modern teachers.

Why? Did they learn some things from Jesus’ disciples that are missed by modern scholars? Maybe.
