Tremendous change must happen in U.S. before Jesus returns?

Is tremendous change needed? Must the U.S. fall from power?

“The change must take place in the most astonishing way possible.” A quote from Terry James of ‘Rapture Ready.’

The U.S. is one of the greatest countries in the world. Some, or many, will say it’s the greatest country ever. I’ll leave that debate for others. But the number one superpower in the world presents some problems for many other countries around the globe. It’s too big and powerful. They want to bring it down.

Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and that Corona Virus country that some like to call China are some of the countries that don’t like America’s standing in the world.

(I’m making fun of the fact that many people are trying to pretend the virus didn’t originate in China, which it did.)

But there’s another surprising group of people who are looking for a complete collapse of the United States. Not all, but many prominent spiritual leaders have predicted the utter destruction of America. No, I’m not talking about some militant Islamic group. Or Bernie’s bros. And I’m not referring to the climate alarmists who insist that America needs to turn back the clock to the pre-industrial revolution era.

It’s the Pre-Rapture folks.

I’m talking about “pre-trib” rapture expecting Bible prophecy teachers and their millions of followers. They’re all very nice folks. At least I hope and believe that they are. And to be fair and upfront, I used to believe exactly what they still believe. I understand why they teach and believe as they do.

But they’re wrong.

Terry James of “Rapture Ready.com” has published a recent article. Mr. James insists that the present status quo of the United States of America must and will change before Bible prophecy can see fulfillment. They also insist that Israel’s fall is necessary.

Here are a quote and the link to Mr. James’ article.

Just considering Israel and America’s positions in current issues and events brings us to conclude that major changes are coming. America must fall or be diminished from its superpower status. Israel must somehow give up its great defensive and offensive military capabilities in order to meet prophetic pronouncements by the prophet Ezekiel.

The “experts” continue to miss the point.

Terry James is among a long list of well-meaning Bible prophecy teachers who misunderstand some of the prophetic literature. That’s a bold statement and very offensive to many people. I don’t mean to offend, but it’s long past the time for Christians to study the scriptures rather than listen to popular fictional theories. We need to stop listening to YouTube prophets and many of the popular prophecy teachers. They’re stuck on a Roman Antichrist theory. They still cling to the idea that Russia will soon attack Israel with a coalition of Jew-hating soldiers. They still expect America to fall. In fact, the U.S. must fall in order for their fictional theories to take place.

You see, if Russia is going to attack Israel, then the U.S. can’t be as powerful as they currently are. So for years, the prophecy teachers have wondered how it will happen. They’ve suggested giant volcanoes, asteroids, global economic meltdowns, EMP attacks from Iran or North Korea, etc.

Any way possible, America must and will fall. But their theories are based on a simple misunderstanding of the prophetic literature.

It was a dream and a fantasy story that the Bible didn’t say anything about.

You see, they read the “left behind” books and thought they were taken straight from the Bible.

But they weren’t.

Ezekiel’s prophecy

One of their biggest mistakes relates to the “Gog and Magog” prophecy found in the book of Ezekiel. Hal Lindsey and many other respected teachers came to a conclusion. They determined that this prophecy was all about Russia. But it wasn’t. It isn’t.

The geographical and biblical context of this prophecy is focused on the Middle East. The region and countries we should focus on are– Turkey, Syria, Iran, and Iraq. That is the region that Ezekiel referred to. And there were many adjoining countries that will join Ezekiel’s coalition. They aren’t from Russia either. They are found in northern Africa.

We need to do our homework.

Put down the “YouTube prophecy expert” and pick up your Bible.

More study is needed.

Malachi 3:6  The Lord does not change

“I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.”

James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Matthew 18:3 The change must happen in us.

And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

  1. Great article.. well thought out and presented. And I couldn’t agree with you more. Unfortunately, most do not study the Bible for themselves when it comes to Eschatology and will therefore be taken completely off guard when things begin to happen they did not expect to experience. On the upside, many are abandoning the Pre-trib school of thought. In fact, I’ve heard polls that say only one third of those who believe in a rapture at all, still hold tightly to Pre-trib. The other two-thirds are divided between Pre-wrath, Post-wrath, and those that are unsure. Blessings to you. Stay safe and well. Dee

      Hello Dee,
      Thanks.
It may seem unfair to “generalize” how Christians study or don’t, but I’ve been in the Christian education field for a very long time. I’ve seen the evidence and it’s not good.
The biggest tragedy of this is the fact the leaders, including many (most?) pastors, etc. are not doing the hard work themselves.
The Christian in the pew is going to follow the lead of those who are behind the pulpits.
If the pastor tells the congregation to stay strong and keep believing the rapture is any moment now, then they will believe him.
Especially if he wears a Hawaiin shirt and seems so genuine. (Not meaning to point fingers 🙂

But the Lord knows His children, and I believe He will not let the Church continue on this path.
I haven’t seen the “polls” you mentioned but I do see a gradual turn away from the pre-trib position.
The Lord is awakening the church.
      Lord bless you

  2. I love the Hawaiian shirt reference. 🙂 I stopped featuring him on my prophecy update blog because, even with my disclaimer he’s still too over the top. He’s become at least as militant as Jan Markell, and let’s face it.. at this point anything we come up with is just a theory – though I think the pre-wrath theory has a great amount of scriptural backing, whereas the others don’t. So to be militant and call others who don’t agree with you heretics is completely uncalled for.

The poll I referenced is actually just pastors, you can find it here: http://lifewayresearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Pastor-Views-on-the-End-Times-January-2016.pdf

In some ways it’s a very disturbing view of what some pastors believe and are teaching their followers. But as the Bible says, teachers (which includes pastors) will be judged to a higher standard. But I agree with you that the Lord will not let His people continue in the path they’re on. And those whose hearts are in tune with His will see the truth before these things come about. The others might see it only when these things begin to happen. Either way, all will know the truth in the end.

While we’re on the subject, I was wondering if I could get your view on a couple things?

First, the Rider on the White Horse in Revelation 6.. what do you see that representing? I have my own view, but I’m curious about yours. I’m sure you have something on your site about it and if so, I would love it if you’d point me that direction.

Also, do you think the first four seals/riders necessarily have to be within Daniel’s 70th Week? I have a hard time with this one, as it seems the first four seals set the stage for the Antichrist to take power and bring some sort of pseudo peace. But if they do not begin until the final 7 years begin, it seems an inconceivably short amount of time for all that is to take place within the 3.5 years before the abomination of desolation to take place. And considering they are called the beginning of sorrows by Jesus, this makes me think they could be outside of and leading up to that period of time.

I look forward to your reply. 🙂 Stay safe out there! Dee

The “militant” attitudes are a natural human response because their ‘wise counsel’ is rejected. Also, when established teachers take a position, it’s too humbling to back away from those positions. Sad reality but all too common.

I’ll take a look at the poll later. It should be interesting.
As to their teaching; ‘Disturbing’ is putting in nicely. But they are usually just repeating what their own pastors taught them.

      As to the white-horse rider.
I haven’t begun to develop my Revelation commentary yet. So, there are limited posts that refer to Rev. six or similar passages. There are several reasons for delaying my commentary on Rev. but I’ll skip that for now.
Of course, like many people, I was taught the typical view of the rider as the Antichrist.
But, when we look at Zechariah, we see the obvious similarities of the visions in the two books. In both books, similarly colored horses come from God and are sent to inflict judgment.
We tend to think of the Antichrist coming in and directing the show and killing and controlling as he takes power. Of course, you know that he’s only allowed to do what the Lord permits. The four horsemen of the apocalypse and the four chariots in Zechariah’s vision could very well be the same angelic beings.
They are unleashed, and because of that, natural events transpire that the prophets predicted. The Antichristic unveiling will be just one of those events.
There is a lot I need to develop regarding this. I kind of want to hold off on saying too much more so I don’t need to backtrack when I realize i didn’t fully compare scripture with scripture on some key points.

I do believe the birth pangs can and will start before the final seven years. They may have already begun, but I hesitate to say that any of the seals are broken. I strongly doubt that. But the AC will come into power before his true identity is known or understood. That will begin to take place before the final seven years begin.
But the wise among us, that’s you, not me 🙂 probably will recognize him. But: his official unveiling is set in stone. That’s when he will enter the temple and claim deity.
There are many things that still need to unfold before the stage is set for the AC to take a position of power.

Here’s just one key passage in Zechariah

      The Four Chariots

1Now I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, four chariots were coming forth from between the two mountains; and the mountains were bronze mountains. 2With the first chariot were red horses, with the second chariot black horses, 3with the third chariot white horses, and with the fourth chariot strong dappled horses. 4Then I spoke and said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these, my lord?” 5The angel replied to me, “These are the four spirits of heaven, going forth after standing before the Lord of all the earth, 6with one of which the black horses are going forth to the north country; and the white ones go forth after them, while the dappled ones go forth to the south country. 7“When the strong ones went out, they were eager to go to patrol the earth.” And He said, “Go, patrol the earth.” So they patrolled the earth. 8Then He cried out to me and spoke to me saying, “See, those who are going to the land of the north have appeased My wrath in the land of the north.”

Let me know what you think.
