Will a Great Slaughter follow the U.S. withdrawal from Syria

Many are predicting a slaughter when the U.S. troops leave Syria

There is no doubt that a great slaughter will follow on the heels of the United States’ removal of troops from Syria. But how soon that will happen is unknown. I don’t make that claim because of what many leaders are currently saying. The prediction of brutal bloodshed in the Middle East was made by several Old Testament prophets. Their words are found in God’s Holy Word. War is coming to the region, but far worse than what we have seen so far. The only bright spot is that Jesus Christ will return and put a stop to mankind’s love of war. We do love war. The World Wars were an opening act for what is to follow.

Buckle up for slaughter!

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has decided to pull the remaining 7,000 troops out of the Syrian conflict. His decision has created a storm of controversy among politicians and military leaders. The President, as is his pattern, has made a decision that is against the grain of popular opinion. He wants the troops out of a war that he feels no longer needs the U.S. presence. Is he wrong? Many people think he is. But the removal of troops will not cause the great slaughter that many people are predicting. I give some reasons why in this previous article.

The U.S. military war machine has been making guns, ammo, and tanks for decades. We have sold or given away our war munitions for so long it just seems the right thing to do. If a few rebels want to fight against their government, we have volunteered to supply the weapons. The number one reason that is given for this is that if we don’t do it then the Chinese or the Russians will. And that is true. So the great game of war continues. And it will go on until we get in so deep we can’t pull ourselves out. In the Olivet Discourse, Jesus said that all flesh would perish if he didn’t return to stop the carnage.

There is a tremendous amount of money at stake in this game. It’s wise to distrust the words of any politician who continues to advocate for the selling of weapons to strangers in deserts and jungles. But that’s off-topic from this post.

Will this be the last war?

Isaiah predicted the last war.

Below are just a few of the Old Testament verses that predict a terrible series of events at the end of days.

A slaughter in Daniel 11:12

When the army is carried off, the king of the South will be filled with pride and will slaughter many thousands, yet he will not remain triumphant.

This was a historical event, but an angel said it foreshadowed a future event at the end of days.

Obadiah 1:9

Your warriors, Teman, will be terrified, and everyone in Esau’s mountains will be cut down in the slaughter.

Teman and Esau’s mountains refer to the region east of Israel, where the Country of Jordan is today.

A slaughter in Isaiah 14:21

Prepare a place to slaughter his children for the sins of their ancestors; they are not to rise to inherit the land and cover the earth with their cities.

Zechariah 11:7

So I shepherded the flock marked for slaughter, particularly the oppressed of the flock. Then I took two staffs and called one Favor and the other Union, and I shepherded the flock.

This flock that Zechariah mentions is Israel. The Antichrist armies will surround and then invade Israel at the end of days. This will be the last attempt made to annihilate every Jew on earth.

Isaiah 34:2

The LORD is angry with all nations; his wrath is on all their armies. He will totally destroy them, he will give them over to slaughter.

There are a lot more verses that tell a similar story. The Bible records nearly four thousand years of history that was capped off by the arrival of a Savior. That Savior, Jesus Christ, made a way of escape for anyone who wants it. But sadly most don’t have time for him. War is coming to the world again, but it will be centered in the Middle East. The removal of 7,000 U.S. troops won’t be the catalyst. It will be pushed by demonic forces that will prey upon mankind’s love of war and conquest. Satan still thinks he can defeat God, and this will be his last attempt.

When the Prince of Peace arrives, he will fix things. If you aren’t ready for his return, you should get ready.

The Lord Jesus Christ provided a remedy for the wicked instincts of humanity.

He put himself in the line of fire so that we might find a way to escape.

Isaiah 53:7

He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep, before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.
